broadcast notes

               DEFINITIONS
Broadcast- to air instantaneously
Journalism- reporting of new and current events
Broadcast Journalism- reporting of news and current events

               SIX CRITERIA

1. Unusualness- news is different. The unusual. The out of the ordinary
Ex: 35 W bridge collapsing

2. Significance- important events, ones that affect many people. (Taxes, elections, wars)
Ex: the president election, discoveries, and new laws (no texting and driving)

3. Timelessness- old news isn't new; its history. People wanna hear about things when there actually happening. (Not one month late)
Ex: 9/11 wanting to hear about it on that day, and then respecting the day

4. Proximity- people wanna know about nearby events (schools, highways, and new state tax laws)
Ex: house fire happening right next door

5. Prominence- when well-known people, buildings, or places are involved
Ex:

6. Human interest- stories about ordinary people or animals, humorous, dramatic, or heart warming stories
